The Properties of Light

The new born baby first experienced the light of this world. So let us discuss what Veda says about the light.

"Seven horses draw the chariot of the sun, tied by snakes".
 Rig Veda 5. 45. 9

This verse has a significant meaning about the property of light. The seven horses refer to the nature of light as being composed of 7 rays and the snake symbolizes its curved path. These colors are actually described as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, Indigo and violet in the vadik sutras.

Sir Issac Newton (4 January 1643 – 31 March 1727) experimented to split light into its 7 colors by a prism. Before 16th century this was unknown to the western world. And modern science also proved that light is not traveled at a straight line but as a wave pattern just like a snake goes.

"Yojananam Dwe Dwe Shate Dwe Cha Yojane
Aken Nimishardhena Krammana Namostute”

Rig Veda 1,50-4
In the verse Sun light speed is referred with the help of units called YOJAN. It referred that sunlight moves 2202 Yojans in Half Nimish.

Calculation part-

Unit of Distance: Yojana
1 Yojan = 4 Kose,
0r 1 Yojan = 9 miles

Unit of Time: Nimesa
15 Nimish = 1 Kashth
30 Kashth = 1 Kaal ( 30×15 Nimish = 450 Nimish)
30 Kaal = 1 Muhurt ( 450×30 Nimish = 13500 Nimish)
30 Muhurt = 1 Ahoratr ( 13500 × 30 Nimish = 405000 Nimish)
1 Ahoratr = 1 Day (86400 Seconds)
1 Nimish = 0.21333 Second

Thus it states
Speed of light= 185,796.6531 miles per seconds

The modern science says that the speed of light is approximately 186,282 miles per second. So the calculation of Veda is very close to the modern calculation. The modern science says that sunlight contains many types of rays such as, infrared, ultraviolet, X-rays and gamma rays etc. but Veda describes about one hundred thousand different types of rays each possessing specific certain properties.

Embriology as Veda teaches

The personality of Godhead said: under the supervision of the Supreme Lord and according to the result of his work the living entity, the soul, is made to enter into the womb of a women through the particle of the men semen to assume a particular type of body.

Srimad Bhagavatam 3:31:1

The modern science says- It is the man who caused the future child to be male or female due to the variation of X-Y chromosome. The “the particle of the men semen to assume a particular type of body” tell about the variation of child whether to be male or female.

“kalalaḿ tv eka-rātreṇa pañca-rātreṇa budbudam
daśāhena tu karkandhūḥ peśy aṇḍaḿ vā tataḥ param”

Srimad Bhagavatam 3:31:2

On the first night, the sperm and ovum mix, and on the fifth night the mixture ferments into a bubble. On the tenth night it develops into a form like a plum, and after that, it gradually turns into a lump of flesh or an egg, as the case may be.

"māsena tu śiro dvābhyāḿ bāhv-ańghry-ādy-ańga-vigrahaḥ
nakha-lomāsthi-carmāṇi lińga-cchidrodbhavas tribhiḥ

Srimad Bhagavatam 3:31:3

In the course of a month, a head is formed, and at the end of two months the hands, feet and other limbs take shape. By the end of three months, the nails, fingers, toes, body hair, bones and skin appear, as do the organ of generation and the other apertures in the body, namely the eyes, nostrils, ears, mouth and anus.

"caturbhir dhātavaḥ sapta pañcabhiḥ kṣut-tṛḍ-udbhavaḥ
ṣaḍbhir jarāyuṇā vītaḥ kukṣau bhrāmyati dakṣiṇe

Srimad Bhagavatam 3:31:4

Within four months from the date of conception, the seven essential ingredients of the body, namely chyle, blood, flesh, fat, bone, marrow and semen, come into existence. At the end of five months, hunger and thirst make themselves felt, and at the end of six months, the fetus, enclosed by the amnion, begins to move on the right side of the abdomen
Srimad Bhagavatam contains the knowledge of how fetus developed and it is proved by the modern science. Not a single mistake can be found thorough out the nine month period, though it is written over thousands of years. Amazing isn’t it??
